Theme: Virtual World
For the 2023 Addy Awards, and as an assignment for my illustration class, we were tasked with designing a cover concept for the Addy Magazine to be presented to the committee. My design was selected as a finalist in the running, but ultimately not selected for the cover.
Techniques used:
The hair was the most complicated piece, requiring some detailed work with the pen tool.
Gradient mesh was applied to both the dress and the flower.
The body’s digital network effect was achieved by designing the path in Illustrator and pulling it into Photoshop to apply several effects and filters to give it the right glow.
To create the background, I found a stock photo of the Las Vegas strip and manipulated it with Photoshop and Camera Raw to give it a surreal coloring. A layer with a variegated line pattern placed over it in Illustrator gave me the digital look I was going for.
The same variegated line pattern was applied to the title in a different color.
