This class assignment was more personal to me than any other. The task was to design a dust jacket for a book of our choosing using a typeface we created ourselves. As an aspiring author, I decided to design a cover for a book I have written and am currently editing. In addition to receiving top marks for this assignment, as well as creating a lasting personal treasure, in 2023, I submitted this design for an Addy Award and received bronze in the student division for Las Vegas.
Techniques used:
I designed the typeface in Illustrator, adding flourishes to some letters once placed in the design itself.
The wanted poster on the front inside flap was created in Photoshop.
I also printed this using the large format printer at work (with permission).
I also formatted and ordered a proof copy of my book printed on Amazon KDP. The finished and wrapped book currently sits on my desk.
